    Ruth Kent is a Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer in Brookfield’s Renewable Group. In this role, she directly oversees renewable power operations and the execution of commercial strategies.

    Ms. Kent joined Brookfield in 2014 as the Head of Power Marketing and Trading for Brookfield’s renewable power business in Europe, followed by Chief Financial Officer, Europe, covering funding, financial and reporting activities. Most recently, she was the Chief Executive Officer of TerraForm Global, overseeing the integration of that business into Brookfield’s global renewable power portfolio. Ms. Kent has over 20 years’ experience working in the automotive, financial services and power sectors.

    Ms. Kent holds an MBA from Henley Management College and is a qualified accountant.

    Andreas Schierenbeck has been CEO of the international energy company Uniper based in Düsseldorf since June 2019. Since taking office, Schierenbeck has been driving Uniper's transformation from a conventional utility to a more climate-friendly, future-oriented energy company. By 2035, Uniper aims to become CO2-neutral in European power generation. To this end, the company is withdrawing from coal-fired power generation, is focusing on gas and the development of the hydrogen economy. In June 2020 Andreas Schierenbeck was appointed to the German government's Hydrogen Council.

    Before joining Uniper, Schierenbeck, who was born in Hohen-Neuendorf near Berlin in 1966, was Chairman of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp Elevators. Schierenbeck, who studied electrical engineering, began his professional career in 1992 at Siemens, where he held various management positions in Germany and abroad until 2012, most recently as President and CEO Building Technologies Americas of Siemens Corporation in the USA.

    Mr. Widmar became CEO of First Solar in July 2016. He joined First Solar in April 2011 as chief financial officer and served as First Solar’s chief accounting officer from February 2012 through June 2015. Mr. Widmar has also served as a director on the board of the general partner of 8point3 Energy Partners LP (“8point3 Energy Partners”), then a publicly-traded yieldco and affiliate of First Solar. Prior to joining First Solar, Mr. Widmar served as chief financial officer of GrafTech International Ltd., a leading global manufacturer of advanced carbon and graphite materials, from May 2006 through March 2011, as well as president, Engineered Solutions from January 2011 through March 2011. Prior to joining GrafTech, Mr. Widmar served as corporate controller of NCR Inc. from 2005 to 2006, and was a business unit chief financial officer for NCR from November 2002 to his appointment as controller. He also served as a division controller at Dell, Inc. from August 2000 to November 2002 prior to joining NCR. Mr. Widmar also held various financial and managerial positions with Lucent Technologies Inc., Allied Signal, Inc., and Bristol Myers/Squibb, Inc. He began his career in 1987 as an accountant with Ernst & Young. Mr. Widmar holds a Bachelor of Science in business accounting and a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University.

    Mary was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer in August 2020. She joined Mainstream in 2009 and she held the role of Group Chief Financial Officer since 2017. She was appointed to Mainstream’s Board of Directors in 2019 and she sits on the company’s Risk & Investment and Corporate Social Responsibility Committees.

    Mary has established a reputation for building world-class teams, implementing new reporting structures and systems across the company, and for aligning the company’s finance strategies to support the business strategy and high growth.

    Mary has graduate and post-graduate qualifications from UCD and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA). She is an advocate and spokesperson on gender diversity and participated as a mentor for the Global Wind Energy Council’s (GWEC) Women in Wind programme in 2019.

    Prior to joining Mainstream, Mary held senior-level positions in finance and corporate tax in PricewaterhouseCoopers and Trinity Biotech Plc.

    Alistair Phillips-Davies is Chief Executive of SSE plc and has been with the company since 1997. Prior to joining the SSE Board in 2002 as Energy Supply Director, Alistair was Director of Corporate Finance and Business Development. In 2010, he became Generation and Supply Director, before Deputy Chief Executive in 2012, and then Chief Executive in 2013.

    During his time as SSE CEO Alistair has spearheaded the businesses transformation to become a leading operator of low carbon assets and infrastructure including onshore, offshore and hydro renewable power alongside electricity transmission and distribution. Under his leadership SSE has focused on developing, operating and owning low carbon infrastructure to support the zero carbon transition.

    Alistair has a detailed understanding of the energy markets in Great Britain and Ireland, including the trends and factors which can have a material impact on the operating context, such as the political and regulatory environment. He also holds a broad knowledge of markets across Europe as former Vice President of Eurelectric.

    Angela is one of the world’s leading global energy futures experts, an experienced energy executive, a distinguished Oxford scholar and a published author. She has 30 years of experience in leading national, international and global multi-stakeholder transformation initiatives on a wide range of economic, energy, climate and sustainable development related challenges.

    Angela has worked as a senior executive in the public-, private-, academic- and civic sectors. She was appointed Secretary General and CEO of the World Energy Council in 2019. Angela joined the Council in 2017 to create a practical energy transition leaders toolkit and direct a new strategic insights programme. Prior to that Angela led an upgrade in strategic foresight at the OECD, based in Paris. Prior corporate experience includes decades in Royal Dutch Shell and British Gas plc. Angela is an Associate Fellow, Said Business School, Oxford and a Strategic Foresight Fellow of the GOA, USA. She sits on two international advisory boards (HSE, Russia; ECI, Oxford) and is a Fellow of the World Academy of Arts and Science. She has published four books and numerous articles. Angela has a PhD in Physics.

    Mr. Doran Hole is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ameresco (NYSE:AMRC), a leading energy solutions company. He is responsible for the company’s financial strategy and oversees capital management, investor relations, corporate and project finance, treasury, financial planning and analysis and financial reporting.

    Mr. Hole has more than 20 years of experience in finance, delivering executive leadership to create and drive operations and strategy while balancing efficiency and growth in the renewable industry. His prior banking and operational leadership experience combined with expertise in accounting, tax, and international business has enabled him to establish strong credibility with equity analysts. With a focus on renewable energy, transportation, and infrastructure assets, Mr. Hole has overseen complex financial transactions as well as corporate strategy.

    Prior to joining Ameresco, he served as CEO for North America, and Group Vice President – Strategy, at ReneSola, where he played a key role in the company’s capital market strategy. Mr. Hole was a member of the global executive team with direct responsibility for North American operations, mergers and acquisitions, and finance activities for the publicly-traded global green energy product manufacturer and developer.

    Mr. Hole is a frequent speaker and panelist at industry conferences including the Power Finance and Risk Magazine Distributed Generation Roundtable and the Infocast Solar Power Finance and Investment Conference. He has represented companies at investment banking conferences and presented at capital raising venues including venture capital and angel investor conferences.

    Mr. Hole is a CFA charterholder and Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR), the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA), and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Mr. Hole earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and International Business from The University of Texas at Austin.

    Dr. Andrew Steer is the President and CEO of the World Resources Institute, a global research-into-action organization dedicated to promoting economic development while protecting the natural environment.

    WRI’s 1100 experts work in more than 50 countries, from offices in Brazil, China, Colombia, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Turkey, the United States, and the United Kingdom. WRI focuses on seven urgent global challenges: food, forests, water, energy, urbanization, climate change and the ocean.

    Dr. Steer joined WRI from the World Bank, where he served as Special Envoy for Climate Change from 2010 - 2012. From 2007 to 2010, he served as Director General at the UK Department of International Development (DFID) in London. This followed 10 years in East Asia, where he was Head of the World Bank in Vietnam and Indonesia.

    In earlier years, Andrew was Director of Environment and Social Policy at the World Bank, Chief of the Bank’s Country Risk Division, Chief Author of the 1992 World Development Report on Environment and Development, and taught economics at Cambridge University. He has written widely on the links between the economy and the natural environment.

    Dr. Steer is a Global Agenda Trustee for the World Economic Forum, a Commissioner of the Global Commission on Adaptation and of the Energy Transitions Commission, a member of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), co-chair of the Climate Change Committee for HSBC, and member of the Advisory Committees of the Asian Development Bank and Bank of America.

    Andrew was educated at St Andrews University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Cambridge University. He has a PhD in international economics and finance.

    He is married to Dr. Liesbet Steer and is the father of Charlotte and Benjamin.

    Markus Gloeckler was named chief technology officer in July 2020 and is focused on driving First Solar’s Series 6 thin film photovoltaic (PV) module platform. Mr. Gloeckler has extensive experience guiding strategic research and development activities and has served First Solar as vice president and chief scientist, before being promoted to senior vice president, module research and development. He was instrumental in enabling First Solar’s achievement of a series of world-record conversion efficiency for cadmium-telluride solar cells. In his role as vice president of research, he led the thin film technology transfer from General Electric to First Solar following the intellectual property acquisition in 2013. He joined First Solar in 2005 in an engineering function supporting First Solar’s technology development after the initial launch of the Series 2 product. Mr. Gloeckler holds an undergraduate degree in microsystems engineering from the Regensburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, and a PhD in physics from Colorado State University.

    Maria Mendiluce was appointed as CEO of the We Mean Business coalition in 2020, at the start of a critical decade for climate action. The We Mean Business coalition brings together seven international organizations: BSR, B-team, CDP, Ceres, CLG Europe, The Climate Group and WBCSD, which together catalyze business leadership and policy ambition to accelerate the transition to a zero carbon economy.

    Maria will use her 25 years experience in sustainable development, energy and climate action to deliver an ambitious five-year strategy. This includes mainstreaming climate action across all businesses, both large and small, and advocating for climate policies to accelerate the green recovery and deliver an inclusive transition to net zero emissions before 2050.

    Formerly Managing Director at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) covering Climate & Energy, Circular Economy, and Cities & Mobility, Maria played a pivotal role in guiding over 200 member companies to take transformative action on climate policy, energy transition, plastic waste and urban mobility. She has also held senior positions at the Economic Bureau of the Spanish Prime Minister, in the CEO’s office of Iberdrola and at the International Energy Agency.

    Throughout her career Maria has a track record of establishing transformative projects. These include the Alliance to End Plastic Waste which pledged $1.5 billion to address plastic leakage to the environment; the Transforming Urban Mobility project to drive clean, safe and efficient mobility for all and WBCSD flagship Low Carbon Technology Partnership initiative which was recognised as a key contributor to the Paris Agreement. She has also focused on working to achieve greater representation of women in leadership roles through the Leading Women Awards and the LEAP education project.

    Maria is a board member of the Science Based Targets initiative, a Commissioner on the Energy Transition Commission, a Co-Chair of the Global Environment Outlook Business Advisory Board (UNEP), a board member of the Centre for International Environmental Studies (CIES) in Geneva, and a member of the BMW Mobility Council and Telefonica Sustainability Advisory Board.

    She has a PhD in energy economics, regularly teaches at universities and publishes in academic journals and media.
