    Scott D. Sheffield is an energy industry leader who played significant roles in the American shale revolution and in lifting the U.S. crude oil export ban. Sheffield currently serves as President and CEO of Pioneer Natural Resources, now the second-largest crude producer in Texas.

    After graduating from the University of Texas with a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering, Sheffield began his career as a reservoir engineer with Amoco Production Co. In 1979, Sheffield joined Parker & Parsley Petroleum Co. By 1985, he was the company’s CEO, and he became its chairman in 1991.
    When Parker & Parsley merged with MESA, Inc. in 1997 to form Pioneer Natural Resources, Sheffield became its founding CEO, later becoming chairman of the board in 1999. Sheffield retired from Pioneer in 2016 but returned as President and CEO in 2019 and continues to serve on the board.

    Sheffield’s board affiliations include The Williams Companies, Inc., the Center for Global Energy Policy at Columbia University and the Energy Council of CSL Capital Management, LLC.

    The Permian Basin Petroleum Association honored Sheffield with its prestigious Top Hand award, and he is a 2013 inductee into the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum Hall of Fame, among numerous other awards recognizing his leadership and his philanthropic efforts.

    Todd A. Stevens is President and Chief Executive Officer and a Director of California Resources Corporation, California’s largest independent oil and natural gas producer. As CEO, Mr. Stevens focuses on strengthening the balance sheet, enhancing margins, and operating CRC’s resilient asset base. CRC’s entire workforce is Californian, and he drives the company’s commitment to the communities where employees live and CRC operates. Mr. Stevens has been with CRC since its inception in December 2014 when it was spun off from Occidental Petroleum Corporation. Mr. Stevens worked for 20 years in various management positions at Occidental Petroleum Corporation, where he last served as Vice President of Corporate Development. During his career with Occidental, he led most of Occidental’s growth initiatives and his responsibilities included mergers and acquisitions, evaluating and developing finance-related strategic and business opportunities, restructuring alternatives and asset dispositions, land management activities and worldwide exploration activities.

    Mr. Stevens earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California after graduating earlier from the United States Military Academy, West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree.

    In 2018, Deirdre was awarded an OBE for her services to the Oil and Gas industry in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Deirdre was also awarded a Fellowship from NESCOL in 2018 and is a Burgess of Aberdeen.

    In his role as CSO, Justin oversees the strategy for developing products and analysis that drive transparency in energy capital and commodity markets. He is the creator of Dirty Little Secrets, an industry game-changing annual report which breaks down companies by asset and provides market insights and due diligence across the entire energy market ecosystem. Prior to co-founding East Daley Capital, Justin spent over 15 years in data analysis, energy information, and consulting across the energy sector. He led the natural gas analytics team for Platts Analytics and was a senior member of the leadership team for Bentek Energy, which was acquired by Platts in 2011. During his time with Platts/Bentek, he helped execute numerous transformational market studies and led the development of hundreds of customized analyses regarding asset acquisitions, strategic planning, development projects and other market events in the oil, gas, and natural gas liquids’ sectors.

    Justin has spoken at numerous industry conferences including the Marcellus Utica Midstream Conference, LDC Forums, and DUG, and has been quoted in publications such as Barron’s Midstream Business, Natural Gas Intelligence, and the Wall Street Journal. He has also authored articles on the energy financial markets for Forbes, Oil and Gas Journal, and Seeking Alpha. Justin has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MS in Engineering Management from the Colorado School of Mines.

    As Executive Vice-President, Upstream, Norrie is accountable for the development and safe operations of Cenovus's oil sands and Deep Basin assets, with a focus on cost leadership across the portfolio. His role includes oversight of asset development and facility operations, as well as drilling and completions, engineering, construction and land administration for the company.

    Norrie brings 30 years of experience working in the global oil and gas industry, and he has a proven track record of successfully delivering projects in the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors.

    With companies such as Talisman Energy, BP Exploration and Marathon Oil, Norrie has developed and operated large scale, onshore and offshore oil and gas fields in the U.S., United Kingdom, Russia, the Middle East and South America. He has deep knowledge managing and operating large, complex assets with specific expertise in process and operational safety, maintenance and reliability. Most recently, Norrie was a Senior Vice-President at TC Energy where he had responsibility for leading the operational excellence, central engineering, pipeline integrity, health, safety, security and major projects groups.

    Norrie holds a PhD, Drilling Muds, from Aberdeen University, Scotland, a Bachelor of Science, from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, as well as a Business Diploma from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

    Alexander Boekhorst is responsible for a global organisation that matures, develops and deploys digital technologies and runs Shell’s computational R&D program. He has teams in Amsterdam, London, Houston and Bangalore to help Shell businesses in their digitalization efforts.

    Alexander joined Shell in 1996 where he started as a Process Engineer working offshore in Norway. In 2001 he transferred to the Gas division and has since built his career in a variety of Gas Development and Technology roles. Between 2001 and 2006 he was based in Australia, working for the North West Shelf Venture as an economist and gas development team lead. He subsequently spent 3 years in the Shell Gas Masterplanning team, doing projects in Oman and Syria. In 2009 he transferred to Russia, where he led a technical, planning and development department for Sakhalin Energy. In 2014 Alexander joined the Integrated Gas business in Singapore as a LNG Commercial Development Manager. Then in January 2016 Alexander became Vice President Programmes and Innovation in Integrated Gas Development at Shell, responsible for the Gas Research and Development programs, as well as a set of improvement programs to improve project cost competitiveness.

    Alexander holds a Master of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in International Petroleum Law and Policy.

    Erik Milito is the president of the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) and took the helm of the offshore energy association effective November 1, 2019.

    Mr. Milito has extensive experience in implementing strategic outreach and public relations platforms for high profile issues on behalf of the energy industry. He is a seasoned spokesperson and lobbyist, testifying before Congress on key energy issues on numerous occasions.

    Mr. Milito comes to NOIA from the American Petroleum Institute (API), where he served for the past 17 years, most recently as Vice President, Upstream and Industry Operations, covering regulatory, legislative, and technical matters related to U.S. oil and natural gas exploration and production. He previously served as managing counsel at API, covering a wide range of legal issues. From 2000 to 2002, Milito served as a career attorney in the Solicitor’s Office of the U.S. Department of the Interior. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army as a judge advocate from 1995 to 2000, and in the U.S. Army Reserve from 2000-2004, before resigning at the rank of Major. Milito holds a Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. He and his wife Beth have four children, Will, Helen, Evie, and Jake and live in Alexandria, VA.

Ed is one of the inaugural University of Houston Energy Fellows where he teaches the undergraduate and graduate Energy Economics courses and has taught undergraduate and graduate economics courses since 1988. He has also taught at Rice University and Yale University. Ed holds the CFA designation. His degrees are from Yale University: BA with honors and Distinction in Economics, MA in Economics, and MBA.
