Partnership with Sustainable Travel to reduce carbon footprint of attendees to flagship events including Transform Food USA and Sustainability Reporting & Communications Europe

Leading sustainability solutions provider Sustainable Travel International has partnered with Reuters Events Sustainable Business, leading platform for business intelligence for sustainability, to ensure the full climate neutrality of all of its upcoming events, commencing with several events taking place in November: Transform Food USA, Transform Supply Chains USA and Sustainability Reporting & Communications Europe

The partnership follows on from a successful partnership earlier on in the year at The Responsible Business Europe. It also follows Reuters Events plan and recognition that there is a pressing need to reduce the carbon footprint of events through conference travel and food consumption:

“We as an organisation feel that it is important we practice what we preach and look at our own impact, changing the way that we do business for the better,” says Ed Long, Head, Sustainable Business, Reuters Events “It is important for our customers to know that by attending our events, their direct impact from attending is reduced - in addition to learning about how to enhance their own sustainability work. We are proud to be partnering with Sustainable Travel International to offset our event emissions.”

“Green events are the way of the future," says Paloma Zapata, CEO, Sustainable Travel International. “We are committed to working with leading companies, like Reuters Events Sustainable Business, to help them mitigate the environmental footprint of their events and through this partnership we hope to play a role in driving sustainability within the events industry.”

Through the partnership, Sustainable Travel International will offset the primary sources of event emissions, including venue energy consumption, waste, meals, and attendee travel and accommodations, via their mixed, global portfolio of forestry, energy, and blue carbon projects. These projects fight climate change by removing emissions from the atmosphere or avoiding future emissions. Sustainable Travel International carefully vets every project included in their portfolio to guarantee their legitimacy, choosing only those that comply with rigorous third-party standards and their own due diligence test, and seeking out high-impact projects that contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and deliver considerable community or environmental benefits beyond CO2 reduction.
